Mental Health Online, hereafter: “MHO”, ‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’ is a service run by Swinburne University of Technology, providing free digital mental health services to the Australian community. MHO has developed a virtual reality app called Place, hereafter: “PLACE app”, “app”.

Users: members of the public who download and use the PLACE app.

Mental Health Online (MHO) is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information which the service collects, holds and administers. Personal information is information which directly or indirectly identifies a person. MHO respects the privacy of online users and we recognise the importance of providing a protected and secure online environment for users.
The purpose of this policy is to provide a framework for Mental Health Online, providers of the PLACE app, in managing privacy considerations. This online privacy policy outlines how MHO collects, stores and processes information for users of the PLACE app. This online privacy policy specifically relates to the PLACE app developed by MHO. This policy only safeguards the privacy of online users of the PLACE app and does not automatically apply to data collected offline or by MHO in general. What Personal Information is Collected?
We collect and process the following personal information, which may include your personal data. If an online user accessed the PLACE app via the MHO website, this may include the form of either account registration or website contact forms.
User Account
Access to the PLACE app can occur if you have registered a user account on the Mental Health Online (MHO) website. To create a user account, you will be asked to provide personal information. The personal information we may collect includes: your email address; your country; your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status; your gender, your year of birth, and your user account password. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of this information, and you are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of your identifying information including your password. You are also responsible for all activities that occur under your account or password.
Analytics
When you access the PLACE app, we may collect technical information about your computer and/or device that may identify you through a third-party analytics provider which includes a user unique identifier, device platform, and timestamps. We may also collect user session analytics (unique session identifier, start and end timestamp, duration), episode download analytics (episode name, start and end progress, start and end timestamp), and episode viewing analytics (voiceover gender and level, early exit, session watch index).
How Do We Use Your Personal Information?
The personal information collected by MHO in relation to your use of the PLACE app will allow us to ensure that the app functions properly and that we give our users the best experience. Other ways we may use personal information includes: to alert you of updates of the app and to handle any user service or technical support questions or issues. We may also use your personal information for internal profiling or marketing purposes so we can better understand the need of our users and deliver tailored experiences.
Data Sharing
We may disclose your personal information to third parties for the following reasons:
• If legally required to by government bodies or law enforcement agencies
• To investigate potential breaches, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the PLACE app and MHO.

• Violating terms of service, use agreements or end user licence agreements for the PLACE app
• Causing injury or interference (intentionally or unintentionally) with MHO and PLACE’s rights or property, other users of PLACE, or anyone else who could be harmed by your activities
We also reserve the right to disclose your personal information if we believe that it is necessary to prevent fraudulent or illegal behaviour or activities.
Storage
Any personal information that is collected by MHO through the use of the PLACE app is held with the strictest confidence. Personal information held by MHO is stored on electronic media, including Amazon Web Services and Swinburne University cloud computing solutions. MHO uses and implements professional and industry standards for the security and protection of information collected, this information is securely stored, and access is restricted to authorised personnel of MHO only. Mental Health Online has strict processes in place to ensure personal information is protected from misuse and loss, unauthorized access, interference, unauthorized modification or disclosure.
Deleting Personal Information
Please contact [email protected] to request that we delete personal information. Deleting data will permanently terminate any accounts you hold with MHO and you will not be able to recover personal information associated with those accounts. Also note that in some cases, MHO may be obligated to retain or use your personal information for as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
